Nassau yacht charter
TL;DR: Nassau has the widest choice of charter yachts in the Bahamas and the easiest flights from the US, which makes it the default starting point. Day trips to Rose Island run a few hours; week-long charters typically head south into the Exumas. Expect a crewed catamaran from around $20,000 a week, or a half-day local charter for a fraction of that.

Why charter from Nassau
Nassau is the main port of entry for Bahamas charters: more yachts are based here than anywhere else in the country, flights from the East Coast are short and frequent, and it sits right next to Paradise Island and the approach to the Exumas chain. It suits both a short local day on the water and a longer itinerary heading further south.
What a Nassau charter looks like
- Half or full-day charter — Rose Island, Salt Cay and the nearby sandbars, usually a crewed day boat or smaller motor yacht.
- Week-long charter from Nassau — most commonly a run south into the Exumas: Highbourne Cay, Big Major Cay (the swimming pigs) and Staniel Cay are standard stops.
- Private crewed charter — catamarans and motor yachts with a captain, and often a chef, so the week is planned around your group rather than a fixed itinerary.
What it costs
A day charter out of Nassau can run from roughly $1,500 to $5,000+ depending on the yacht, while a week-long crewed catamaran from Nassau into the Exumas typically starts near $20,000, plus APA, taxes and gratuity. See the full line-by-line breakdown in Bahamas yacht charter cost.
